A GPRS device is to be distribute to tourists and assistance offered when needed. This is the plan of the local Council of Sorrento for an innovative service for the thousands Italian and foreign tourists, that come every year to the hotels in Sorrento.
The transmitter will be endowed with buttons by which tourists will be able to activate different functions, for example SOS assistance, the police or locate their position in the territory or, also, to express their opinion about services in the area. On arrival at the hotel, the reception staff will give guests the appliance with GPRS technology, together with an identification card and a microchip on which the guests will store all the information about their.

For the duration of their holiday in Sorrento, tourists will be able to use the different functions of the sophisticated device connected, connected through repeaters in the area aligned with the local police. If the device is activated, the signal is immediately intercepted by the receivers and directed to the central operative offices, and then directed out to the appropriate service sector. A prompt reply, is guaranteed this way.
At the end of their stay, tourist will turn in their GPRS devices and will receive an identification card with a picture of the town, as a souvenir of their holiday in the town of Tasso.
